Legislative Update

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom speaking on the Assembly Floor

My team and I are starting this year with strong momentum, and we've already introduced several legislative proposals that will benefit the Central Valley. The deadline to submit new legislation is next month, so I look forward to sharing more legislation with you in the next update.

  • AB 1590 ensures that all state-approved funding for Career Technical Education (CTE) programs is fully allocated and reaches students.
  • AB 1585 supports California's grape growers and wine community by requiring that all wine produced in California labeled as "100% American" be truly 100%.
  • AB 1610 strengthens vote-by-mail delivery by establishing a statewide process for change-of-address updates to ensure ballots reach voters on time.
  • AB 278 underscored the need to put patients first, advancing new efforts to make health care more affordable across California.

Launching My Young Legislators Program

Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom stands with Students of the inaugural Assembly District 13 Young Legislators Program

I'm always impressed by the passion and drive of our youth, which inspired me to create my Young Legislators Program. In January, we held our very first session at CSU Stanislaus in Stockton, bringing together students from Stockton, Tracy, and Mountain House to begin this six-month journey. This program gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to learn how each branch of government works and how to use their voices to drive positive change in our communities. I'm proud to support the next generation of leaders here in Assembly District 13, and I'm excited to see how these students grow throughout this experience.

February is Unclaimed Property Month

This is a great time to check whether you have unclaimed property with the State of California. Many people are surprised to learn they may have funds held for them from uncashed checks, old bank accounts, or insurance benefits. In San Joaquin County, nearly 200,000 people who currently have unclaimed property.

I want to ensure you receive any funds that are yours. Searching is free, quick, and secure, and there is no deadline to file a claim!
