Delivering Results for San Joaquin County
Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom, Assembly District 13

__SALUTATION__

The Legislature is in full swing, and we continue to make progress on key legislation to expand access to affordable fuel and ensure our youth are on track to graduate.

I hope you and your families had a great month of April. As we move into May, I remain committed to bringing more state resources and solutions to San Joaquin County. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you in the State Assembly, and I invite you to take a look at what we accomplished together in 2025.

Warm regards,

Signature of Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom

Legislative Update

AB 1713 - Inspired by a Stockton Educator who submitted their idea through my ‘There Oughta Be a Law' Contest
Madellyn Hill, a paraeducator from Stockton, joined me in Sacramento to present our bill that removes barriers for students with disabilities.

  • Cuts red tape for students and families across California
  • Creates a smoother transition to college
  • Builds a more inclusive higher education system

AB 1659 - Supporting justice-impacted youth on their path back to school
My bill to help students successfully transition back to their home school is moving fast, bringing us one step closer to making sure no student falls through the cracks.

  • Requires a designated staff member in every school district to support reentry
  • Improves coordination between court schools and home districts
  • Helps students stay on track to graduate and reduces recidivism

Opportunities for Youth

Students Cheering

There are so many opportunities available for youth throughout San Joaquin County.

I recently launched an Opportunities for Youth page on my website, which acts as a growing hub for scholarships, internships, jobs, and programs available across Stockton, Tracy, and Mountain House. It's designed to make it easier for families, educators, and community leaders to find and share resources that can make a real difference in our youth's future.

Every week, I hear from people struggling to get answers from state agencies. Whether it's delayed unemployment benefits, Paid Family Leave, DMV issues, or other services, these situations can be frustrating and overwhelming.

Through casework services at my District Office, we've helped recover over $1 million in unpaid benefits for families in our community. My services are free and confidential, we look forward to assisting you.
