Sacramento, CA- The California Municipal Utilities Association (CMUA) presented Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom with the CMUA Water Legislative Leader award. This award recognizes Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom’s leadership in ensuring families in the Central Valley and across California have access to clean, affordable drinking water.
In 2025, Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom introduced AB 532, to address the growing challenge of water affordability across the state. AB 532 allowed public water providers to offer low-income water rate assistance programs to provide customers facing shutoffs or financial hardships more affordable options.
“I am honored to be named Water Legislative Leader of the Year by the California Municipal Utilities Association. Drinking water isn’t a luxury, it’s a basic need and for our low-income residents — including seniors, single parents, or essential workers — a modest support program can mean the difference between stability and crisis.”

Assemblymember Ransom looks forward to continuing the fight with CMUA and other public water agencies across the state to ensure every Californian has access to affordable, clean drinking water.
