Sacramento, CA - Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom has selected Mountain House City Councilmember Bernice King Tingle as Assembly District 13’s 2026 honoree for the California Legislative Black Caucus Unsung Hero Award in recognition of Black History Month.
Councilmember Tingle was recognized on the Assembly Floor during a Black History Month ceremony at the State Capitol, where legislators honored Unsung Heroes from across California. The award celebrates leaders whose steady commitment to service strengthens their communities in meaningful and lasting ways.
“Councilmember Tingle represents the heart of Mountain House. She may not always seek the spotlight, but her impact is felt across the community every day.”
- Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom
Councilmember Tingle’s dedication to service began at just fifteen years old, volunteering as a tutor in Oakland and learning firsthand that true leadership starts with listening. That people-centered philosophy continues to guide her work in Mountain House today.
Since moving to Mountain House, Tingle has played a vital role in shaping the community’s growth and future. She was instrumental during the transition to cityhood and made history in 2024 by serving as the City’s first Vice Mayor. Through her leadership, she has remained focused on building a safe, connected, and opportunity-driven community for families.
In addition to her work on the City Council, Tingle has spent years empowering young residents and promoting financial literacy, helping prepare the next generation of leaders.
“Mountain House is more than where I live. It is home,” said Councilmember Tingle. “This recognition is meaningful because my work has always centered on serving our community and listening to what matters most to our residents. I believe in connection, accountability, and service, and I encourage everyone to stay engaged, support one another, and take pride in shaping the future of Mountain House together. I share this honor with the community that inspires me every day.”
Assemblymember Ransom is proud to honor Councilmember Bernice King Tingle for her continued dedication to Mountain House and Assembly District 13.
