SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Rhodesia Ransom has named LULAC Stockton Council 2060 as the 2026 Nonprofit of the Year for California’s 13th Assembly District. The organization was honored at the annual Nonprofit of the Year event hosted by the California Association of Nonprofits at the California State Capitol, recognizing the outstanding contributions of nonprofits across the state.
Founded nationally in 1929, the League of United Latin American Citizens, known as LULAC, is the nation’s oldest and largest Latino civil rights organization. For nearly a century, LULAC has carried forward a mission rooted in education, civic participation, civil rights, and opportunity for Latino communities across the country.
In Stockton, that legacy has taken shape through generations of local service. Since the early 1970s, LULAC Stockton Council 2060 has been a steady force in San Joaquin County, helping open doors for young people, supporting families in need, and building partnerships that strengthen the community.

About LULAC Stockton Chapter 2060
LULAC Stockton Council 2060 has contributed well over $1.3 million in scholarships over approximately 50 years to high school graduates pursuing a college education. The organization’s scholarship program has helped generations of local students take the next step toward higher education and future leadership.
For more than 28 years, LULAC Stockton Council 2060 has chaired the Youth Leadership Conference at San Joaquin Delta College, serving an average of 1,800 students from every school district in San Joaquin County. The conference is held in partnership with San Joaquin Delta College, the San Joaquin County Office of Education, local school districts, El Concilio, Comerciantes Unidos, educational institutions, public agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
The council’s service also extends beyond the classroom. For more than 50 years, its Christmas Food Basket Program has provided between 800 and 2,500 large food baskets each year to families in San Joaquin County living in poverty.
